If you’re planning on coming to Korea, and work in the creative field. The E-6 Artistic Performer visa is for you, as the other artist visa D-1 will not allow you to make a profit. Or if you’re coming to Korea, to become a professional athlete the Artistic Performer visa is also for you.

The E-6 Artictic Performer is a pretty broad visa, as it will allow you to act on tv, dance in a big production, sing at a hotel, be an extra in a movie or perform in less public venues.

As the visa is a broad visa, which means you can use the E-6 artistic Performer visa for different things, it has been broken into 3 sub categories. Each one has it’s own special requirements. The requirements are as follows.

You will be performing according to the regulation of the performance act.

  • A recommendation letter of performance, from the Motion Picture Grade Committee
  • The performance plan for your work
  • A reference letter from an employer.

You want to perform at a hotel or another entertainment spot than those in the first sub category.

  • A certificate of qualification or your employment certificates
  • A HIV-negative confirmation statement

You want to work with anything else than performing.

  • A reference letter

to apply for your E-6 Artistic Performer visa, you will have will to go through a number of steps.

  • Find a job, and sign the contract which your employer will send.
  • Send the signed document, along with the specific documents for your field specified above.
  • Your employer will apply for a visa issuance number, and send it to you. The process takes about two weeks
  • You have to take the number to your local Korean embassy or consulate in your country
  • Along with you bring documents such as passport, 2 colour photos (3cmx4cm), the visa application form, copies of your documents, such as passport, degree and certificate of employment.
  • You will have to pay a fee, 30 USD for single entry, 50 USD for multiple entry visa. (May vary depending on your country)
  • You will receive a temporary visa in your passport, this will allow you to enter Korea.

When you arrive in Korea, you will have to apply for your Alien Registration card. As this card will allow you to do daily things, such as setting up a bank account, signing up for phone service, shop online and such. You will have to go to your local immigration office to have it made, with you you will need your passport, 2 colour photos (3cmx4cm) copies of your passport and the application form. After you have applied, it will take two weeks for your ARC to arrive.
